Patent Drawing

The family has always built things.

Joseph Martin Fugett was born enslaved in Central Tennessee. He escaped during the Civil War, settled in Baldwinsville, New York, owned a blacksmith shop and a farm, and on December 4, 1888, received U.S. Patent No. 393,971 for a Road Cart with a spring suspension system designed to absorb horse motion.

"My invention relates to vehicles for the transportation of people... My object is to produce a road-cart free from horse motion."
Joseph M. Fugett, January 30, 1888

136 years later, his great-great-grandson is still identifying problems, still designing solutions, and still making the government document what gets built.

Fugett Labs is the family's innovation engine, deploying AI tools and applications for operators who need infrastructure, not just ideas.

1888

Fugett Labs is a fifth-generation idea laboratory.

Joseph Martin Fugett was born enslaved in Central Tennessee, escaped during the Civil War, and settled in Baldwinsville, New York. On December 4, 1888, the U.S. Patent Office granted him Patent No. 393,971 for a Road Cart with an improved spring suspension system. He owned a blacksmith shop. He owned a farm. He made the government document what he built.

His great-great-grandson, Russell Fugett, is a Baltimore-based executive strategist, entrepreneur, and builder who carries that same spirit into AI deployments, products, and platforms designed for operators who need results, not just roadmaps.

Fugett Labs is the family's innovation engine, deploying AI tools and applications, building products, and developing IP. Every project is a direct line from a blacksmith's patent in 1888 to whatever gets built next.

We build things that were never supposed to exist. That is the whole point.

The 1888 thread continues. More invention and patentable IP coming soon.
